On February 6, The Basement celebrated its one-year anniversary at UC San Diego. In attendance were The Basement’s network of alumni and external partners who celebrated the successes of the last year alongside alumni and campus leaders. The anniversary program led by Jeff Belk, ’83 began with opening remarks from Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla, and presentations from Associate Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Commercialization, Paul Roben, and new Assistant Vice Chancellor of Alumni and Community Engagement, Steph Barry, ’94.
The program culminated in a panel presentation led by Ashley Van Zeeland, Ph.D., M.B.A. ’12, Head of Pediatrics Business for Human Longevity Inc. which examined a select collection of projects led by Basement teams. Featured in the panel were Alex Boone, ’15, M.B.A. ’17, Co-Founder of TEAnGo Technologies, Darren Charrier, ’18, CEO, Prometheus Space Industries and Steve McCloskey, ’15, Founder and CEO of NanoVR, Inc.
