Growing Together

As our alumni population grows every year, so does the number of engaged alumni—Tritons who choose to stay involved with UC San Diego by attending our events, giving a gift or volunteering their time, experience and expertise to students.

Last year saw extraordinary growth in our alumni programs—our regional events packed rooms across the country, alumni helped UC San Diego’s first-ever Giving Day surpass its goal, and registrants nearly doubled for our second annual All-Campus Homecoming. More and more Tritons are coming out to experience the fun, the fellowship and the fulfillment of staying engaged with their university.

I’m especially excited to report a resounding response to the first year of our Take a Triton to Work program. Recently expanded nationwide, it has brought together hundreds of current students with alumni for a day on the job, making meaningful connections between generations of Tritons. Look out for the next opportunity to connect with a student this spring break, March 23-26.

We are bringing Tritons together as well through our latest online platform, Tritons Connect, where you can mentor, be mentored, or join professional groups with other Tritons who share your interests. If you haven’t yet signed up, I hope you’ll join the thousands of alumni who have already taken part: tritonsconnect.com

Last year was remarkable, and now we look forward to 2020. With it comes a whole new decade, one that will bring a long-awaited Alumni Center, and continue the unprecedented growth for our campus, our Triton network, and of course, our engaged alumni. I hope you’ll take advantage of this remarkable time in UC San Diego history by getting involved—it’s easy, it’s enriching, and it is your unique privilege as alumni of our amazing university.

With Triton pride,

Jeff Belk ’83
